There are many cultures & religions based in the Far East, the variety of fish caught & eaten is far different to that in the Northern Hemisphere. Likewise the selection of creatures Farmed for their meat is very different. The Tanners (like MPL), the Leather Industry & Leather Craftsmen use these skins which would otherwise be destroyed as waste. Please remember if we did not make use of them, NOT ONE SINGLE fish or creature would be saved. Without a World Wide change in the feeding habits of humans.

This Tannery main source of skin is 'Shagreen' Skins (Stingray Skins) The Leather Connection is the Forwarding Agent for MPL. These are extremely hard wearing skins as well as producing highly fashionable leathergoods which at present are only available to the high end market. Note. These skins are a by-product of the local fishing industry as Stingray is a food fish in that area. If it could not be used it would be discarded as waste. Common name: Nunavut Ring Seal.

Scientific name: Phoca hispida.

CITES appendix: None.

Size: 7 - 11 sqft and up per skin, with no average size.

Selection: I/II/III 50/40/10%.

Finishing: Soft tannage with fur on.

Indo bullfrog (Rana macrodon) NON CITES species.

Cobia is a farmed sea fish in Thailand and S.E. Asia by hugh agricultural companies of which meat is used for export and skin is by-product. After tanning, the skin is soft with small scale like salmon. It could be stitched as panels, but is also big enough for small leathergoods & shoes.

Common name: Cobia fish.

Scientific name: Rachycentron canadum (domesticated).

CITES: NON.

Selection: I/II 80/20%.

Size: 0.65 sqft./pce. & up (no average size).

COMMON TOAD (Bufo melanostictus). Full Skins

Common Toad leather panels. This is our updated current price for COMMON TOAD leather panel (Bufo melanostictus).

1. Panel size 2 x 5 feet approximate or 10 sqft. per panel.

2. Stitching will be OVL (overlapping like the chicken leg panel).

3. Pattern will be brick laying pattern like the chicken leg panel.

4. Size of each brick will be varied from the smallest brick 2.5 x 7 cms. to the largest brick 5 x 10 cms., within one panel the size of the bricks will be same size.

5. Delivery 20 days.

6. Could be MAT or GLOSS finish.

blue shark is supplied in mix whole hide & side hide without any percentage, but the minimum size per hide is 4 sqft., and the maximum will be approximate 9 sqft. ++. There is a minimum order for all colors i.e., 500 sqft. per color. The selection is I/II 80/20%

Scientific name: Crocodylus siamemsis.

They are part of the food chain in the Far East & are therefore a by-product of their 'Food Industry' They would not be listed here if this was not the case. Due to restrictions & licensing these skins are in short supply.
